A Feast for the Eyes, Tastebuds and Soul: Exploring the Culinary and Visual Arts
Chef Erick Williams wins accolades for his farm-to-table interpretation of southern cooking, and commitment to unpretentious, warm service. All are on full display at his Hyde Park Virtue Restaurant & Bar, which Williams opened in 2018 after many years as executive chef at MK restaurant in River North. Esquire Magazine and Eater named Virtue one of the “Best New Restaurants in America, 2019” and it recently won Michelin’s 2020 Bib Gourmand award. Joining Williams at this private evening over a specially crafted meal will be Yesomi Umolu, Artistic Director of the 2019 Chicago Architecture Biennial and Director and Curator of Exhibitions at UChicago’s Logan Center for the Arts. Umolu and Williams will explore the parallels between visual and culinary arts, and the influence of art and architecture on the culinary experience.
