Chicago's Leading Voices in Theater Community Event
From Lab to the Tony Awards: A Conversation with Chicago's Leading Voices in Theater
Friday, March 27, 2026
Time: 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Restrictions: Adults Only.
Hosted by:
Matthew Randle-Bent P'38 P'40, Acting Director, Jane Addams Hull-House Museum,
Gabrielle Randle-Bent P'38 P'40, Associate Artistic Director, Court Theatre, and

Join us for an intimate evening of conversation, culture, and connection with Lab alum and parent Glenn Davis, producer and lead actor in Purpose - 2025 Tony Award winner for Best Play and Artistic Director of Steppenwolf Theatre Company.
In dialogue with Gabrielle Randle-Bent, Associate Artistic Director of Court Theatre and fellow Lab parent, Davis will reflect on how his Lab education helped shape a career spanning stage, screen, and cultural leadership—and how the work they are each doing at Steppenwolf and Court is helping reshape Chicago theatre’s evolving story: stewarding bold artistic ambition, expanding whose voices and narratives are centered, and reimagining what Chicago theatre can be for audiences today.
The evening will take place at the historic Jane Addams Hull-House Museum, one of Chicago’s most iconic cultural landmarks and a site deeply connected to both Lab and Steppenwolf. Guests will enjoy light bites, a guided museum tour, and an exclusive first look at the new exhibition, Perennial City: Experiments in Urban Gardening.
